Zilker Botanical Garden!

Bring your Garden Club or Tour Group to visit and enjoy our 22 acres of display gardens right in the heart of Austin's Zilker Park!

During these tours visitors get to experience a variety of theme gardens including the Xeriscape Garden which demonstrates water conserving plants and planting techniques; the serenity of the Tanaguchi Oriental Garden with teahouse and koi filled ponds; the Blachly Butterfly Trail, with abundance of native butterflies in all stages of their life cycles; the Rose Garden, with over 800 rose plants, including the All-American Rose Selections; the Herb and Cactus and Succulent Gardens; and our Heritage Area, which includes a blacksmith shop, Organic Garden, and a school and home transplanted from the 1800's. Dinosaur tracks found in the quarry area can also be visited and are the future site of a Cretaceous garden composed of the kinds of plants alive during that prehistoric period.

Adult tour groups are guided through the gardens in small
groups, accompanied by trained docents.

Tours for interested groups can be arranged by caling the Vice-President of Education, Ruth Roberts, or Valleri Edelbrock, Garden Center Manager. These tours last approximately an hour and a half. The cost of the tour is $2.00 per person, with a $50.00 minimum per group and benefit the Education Program of the Austin Area Garden Council
