1. Please stay out of the flower beds and do not remove any plant identification signs. You may use any paved or gravel surface and the turf areas.

Even though the flower beds look empty, perennial plant shoots are growing just below the surface of the soil. Stepping on these shoots will kill the plants.

Stepping between the plants compacts the soil, turning it into a cement like substance that repels water and kills roots. This creates a bald spot for the rest of the growing season.

2. Do not block any of our garden trails. Always allow enough room for park vistors to go around.

3. Zilker Botanical Gardens does not provide a place to change clothes.

4. Please wear walking shoes and carry your high heels and wing-tip shoes between shots.

5. Please observe the hours of operation and allow enough time for your photo session We close promptly at the posted closing hours

  • Stay on the paths (many of the unpaved areas are newly planted and/or fragile).
  • Leave the plants and animals in the gardens (removing flowers or any other vegetation is forbidden, as is tree climbing.)
  • Please refrain from picnicking in the gardens (facilities for picnicking are located accross the street at Zilker Park).
  • Please do not bring butterfly or fish nets (any insect collecting must have prior approval from the Garden Biologist and collectors must wear visible badges at all times).
  • Please do not feed the fish. They require a special diet.
  • Do not bother the animals that live here. This is their home.

  • Park or push your bicycle
  • Please do not bring any boom boxes
  • No alcoholic beverages are allowed!
